Sándor Viniczai is a qualified horticultural engineer and a qualified wine expert, and has been a journalist for the national weekly Magyar Mezőgazdaság for more than thirty years. For two decades, he has been strengthening the sector's only scientific journal, the Wine Gazette, previously as associate editor and later as editor-in-charge. He has written countless articles on wine. He passed his wine judging and wine knowledge exams in 2002 and to date he has been involved as a judge in numerous national and international wine competitions. He was elected a member of the Press Order in 1994. Since 2010, he has been a founding member of the Csurgó Csokonai Wine Order, and was later accepted into the Order of the Promontórium Wine Order in Budafok. He was admitted as a full member of the Hungarian Wine Academy in 2012 and was awarded the title of "Journalist of the Year" in the same year. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Wine Writers' Circle and an active participant in its events. In 2017, he was awarded the Rezső Soó Prize by the National Association of Hungarian Journalists, the Environmental, Water and Tourism Section of the Hungarian Association of Wine Journalists, and the Par Excellence Award by the Hungarian Sommelier Association in 2019.
