Zolt\u00e1n Gy\u0151rffy was born in Vojvodina and has lived in P\u00e9cs since 1992. He graduated in Hungarian language and literature from the Janus Pannonius University of P\u00e9cs. He has been involved in journalism since high school, founded two university newspapers (P\u00e9csi Campus 1994, UnivP\u00e9cs 2000), worked for various newspapers and was press officer of the University of P\u00e9cs from 2000 to 2010.
In 2008, he launched the wine magazine P\u00e9csi Boroz\u00f3 (pecsiborozo.hu), of which he has been editor-in-chief ever since, and has also contributed as an author to Decanter, VinCE, Gusto, Magyar Konyha and the Croatian I\u0107e i pi\u0107e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2017, he received the Croatian Tourism Association's Golden Pen Award for his writings on Croatian wine tourism and wine regions, and in the same year he was awarded the \"V\u00e1rosh\u00e1za Eml\u00e9k\u00e9rm\" (City Hall Medal) by the Municipality of P\u00e9cs for his work in favour of the P\u00e9cs wine region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is one of the founders of the South-Transdanubian Wine Tourism Cluster and the organiser of several wine festivals and competitions (P\u00e9cs City Wine, Portugieser du Monde, Franc&Franc, Pannon Wine Region TOP25). He is a frequent judge at regional and international wine competitions and a speaker at professional conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2016 he has been the spokesperson of the Hungarian Circle of Wine Writers. In 2020 he received the Par Excellence Award of the Hungarian Sommelier Association as Wine Writer of the Year. From 2020, he is the Director of the Relations Directorate of the University of P\u00e9cs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
